The National Development Council celebrates the grand re-opening of Scotland, a unique affordable housing community in Potomac, Maryland. Founded in the late 1800s by formerly enslaved people, the community has persevered in one of the most expensive counties in the US. NDC’s Field Director KC George worked closely with the residents, the volunteer board and EnterpriseNow to finance and manage the rehabilitation of affordable housing without displacing the residents. This unique community is a mix of new and long-time residents, including descendants of the original families who settled this land. NDC congratulates the Scotland Community!
