Seattle, WA – Construction has begun on Claremont Apartments, a mixed-use development in Seattle’s low-income southeast community. Claremont Apartments is a project of SouthEast Effective Development (SEED), a not-for-profit community development organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life in Southeast Seattle. Located on Seattle’s light rail line, will provide easy access to the environmental advantages of mass transit. NDC Field director Chuck Depew worked with the City of Seattle’s Office of Economic Development (OED) to evaluate and underwrite a $2.15 million HUD Section 108 loan and to secure a $430,000 Brownfields grant. SEED is receiving an additional $150,000 from the Washington State Department of Ecology for further cleanup costs.
The 78,079 square foot mixed-used development will contain 68 residential units and 5,900 square feet of ground floor commercial space.
