June 8, 2017- Twenty-one new units of affordable housing are now under construction in Clinton, CT. The development is called Liberty Place, all 21 units will be rented to families and individuals at or below maximum incomes of $38,000 and $48,000, based on family and apartment size. The 26,000 square-foot building will include security and have units that include fully furnished kitchens with energy star appliances and central air conditioning. It will also contain community meeting spaces, an exercise room and solar panels.
“Affordable housing is critical to maintaining mixed income communities,” said Dan Marsh, President and CEO of the NDC. “We are committed to investing in projects like Liberty Place and to do so we are growing our affordable housing fund to meet the growing demand in Connecticut and across the country.”
The development’s capital funding was procured through the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority and the National Development Council (NDC) through a low income housing tax credit investment. Additionally, The State Department of Housing provided a critical pre-development loan.
Congratulations to our partners at Clinton Housing, Inc. and Neighborworks New Horizons.
Construction is expected to take one year to complete.
