A grand opening celebration was held on Friday, October 16th, for Rainier Place, the new Edmonds Community College single-student housing facility.  About 100 people gathered to mark the successful completion of Rainier Place.

Built by NDC on behalf of Edmonds Community College, just north of Seattle in Washington State, it is already leased to capacity and is now home to 181 residents,  about half of whom are international students.  The facility provides private study areas, a laundromat, kitchens in every apartment, and a gathering area that is equipped with a pool table, a large flat screen television, and a gaming area.

Rainier Place is the College’s first on-campus student housing and it was designed to provide a significant enhancement to the Edmonds campus experience, which will in turn aid in student recruitment.  The project was financed using NDC’s Public-Private Partnership model and $14.4 million in 501(c)(3) bonds.   Like  NDC’s other public-private projects, Rainier Place was a collaborative effort.  Thanks to NDC, Edmonds Community College, and the developer, Lorig Associates, there is now a new dimension to student life at Edmonds Community College.
